Chapter 8: Homecoming
Doflamingo had been away for weeks now. When he returned and saw his domain, he almost missed it. Almost. As soon as he entered his rooms through the window, he saw that someone was waiting for him. Silver - he said. Why are you here? Silver had been one of the Donquixote’s crew, but now he served as his top army general. He was almost as tall as the king and well built. He had black eyes and black hair. His face was decorated with two scars. One on each side of his face. He was wearing his usual armor and cape today. He also had earrings on each of his ears. The earrings were small silver crosses.
If Silver wanted to talk with him than something wasn't right. He wouldn't disturb him in his rooms for nothing. Not after he had just returned. Was this about Brandish and Bacchus? No. That situation wasn't serious enough for Silver to worry. What then? Sire - said the black-haired man. How was your trip? Boring - said the king calmly.
Doflamingo was sitting on his throne now and was waiting for Brandish and Bacchus to come before him. What Silver had told him, had worried the young king, but that had to wait for now. Still. Why? Why was one of the Emperors of the sea attacking his weapon shipment? Why was Charlotte Linlin doing this? Had she learned that he was supplying weapons under her nose? No. How would she know that? This was just one of her usual tantrums. She just had heard that big money was floating around, and she was not getting a piece of the cake.
It took some time, but finally, Brandish and Bacchus came before him. Bacchus was cheerful, but Brandish had an expression on her face like that of a child that it's being asked from the teacher if she would come and explain to the class what they had learned in the last class. Sire - said Bacchus and bowed to him. Brandish just said something under her breath and bowed with annoyance in her eyes. So - began the king. I heard you run into trouble. I hope the mission I sent you to do didn't prove too difficult. Not at all Sire - said Bacchus still bowing before him. Speak for yourself - said Brandish with a flicker of anger in her voice. Bacchus ignored her comment as did the king and continued. It just happened that the navy spotted us. Like you feared Sire they were on high alert. Hmph - added Brandish. We of course - said Bacchus ignoring Brandish yet again. Took care of them. Took care of them?! - shouted Brandish in anger. We followed them halfway around the world. We should have let them go. I just wasted two weeks of my life chasing navy soldiers. Two weeks! Yes. - said Bacchus irritated. Truly a great loss, but it had to be done. They saw what flag we were flying under. We couldn't just let them go. Hmph - said Brandish annoyed. The two had forgotten that they were before the king and has started to fight like a married couple. I should have told my men to throw you at sea Bacchus - said the green-haired woman with venom in her eyes. Yes. I think I will actually do that the next time you ask me to follow you on another stupid chase. Good to know. I will make sure to pack a life vest next time I am sent on a mission with you then. -said Bacchus.
Bacchus was an average tall muscular man. He had black straight hair. Some of his hair formed a bun at the back of his head. He covered it with a dark blue cloth. He was wearing his usual attire. That was comprised of a pair of baggy black pants, a pair of black comfortable slippers, and a weird dark blue armor. The armor was weird because it covered his muscular shoulder and hands only. Even at the hands, the armor stopped to his wrists. His chest and back were bare otherwise. The only difference was that he had a tattoo on his back.
The same one that Brandish had on her bottom left abs - a sinister smiling skull. The symbol had a single line going from left to right. He also was wearing a pair of dark blue earrings that had the shape of a gourd. Seeing that you could always find Bacchus drunk with a real gourd on his hand, his choice of earrings wasn't that surprising. They had been going at each other for quite some time now when the king said with a pleading tone. UGH! Enough!
After that terrible long briefing, the king went back to his rooms. He was tired. When he opened the room to his bedroom, he found her there. The white-haired woman he was hoping to see. Mirajane - he said. Doffy - she said and smiled at him. You are back. Ugh! I wish I wasn't- he said. She laughed at that and said: I guess you meet with Bacchus and Brandish already. Yes - he said tired. I am glad that is over with though - he added. You are lucky you took your time coming back - said the white-haired woman still smiling. If you had been back here the day they returned I promise you, that you would had the desire to throw yourself from the top of the castle by now.
So - she said by looking at him. How was the meeting? Did you learn anything new? Nothing that I wasn't expecting - he said. That happened after the meeting. Then he told her everything that had happened with Stussy. Will she keep her promise? - asked Mirajane. Maybe - said Doflamingo with a tired voice. If she does, we can use her, and if she doesn’t, we can kill her. Doesn't really matter to me at the end. Well, we will have to wait and see - said the white-haired woman after a while and walked to the door. Mirajane - whispered the king. Do you mind staying with me tonight? She turned to look at him and nodded quietly. The king removed his pink feather coat and then his trademark sunglasses. When he removed the sunglasses than his eyes came to light. His left eye was blind and had a subtle scar from the left top corner to the right bottom one. This was something only Mirajane knew about. She was the only one he trusted with it.
